From 1 October 2009, Directors will be able to supply a Service Address to Companies House. This will enable Directors to hide their residential address from the public.
The service address will be on the public record and will be public information but the residential address will not be. A director may choose any address as the service address and it may be the same as the registered office address of the company. Directors will not be able to use PO Boxes as their service address.
If the director chooses to use his residential address as the service address the fact that the two addresses are the same would not be apparent from the public record.
However, previous Directors’ addresses will remain on the public record.
